Main Ingredients:
- 2 x 180β200g (6.5β7oz) fresh tuna steaks (preferably yellowfin or ahi)
- 1 tsp olive oil
- ΒΌ tsp sea salt
- β tsp black pepper
Optional Seasonings:
- 1 tbsp garlic butter (for a rich flavor)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce & grated ginger (for an Asian twist)
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for a crunchy crust)
- 1 tbsp blackened seasoning (for a Cajun kick)
Instructions
- Prepare the tuna steaks: Pat the tuna dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
- Season: Drizzle the tuna steaks with olive oil and rub evenly. Sprinkle both sides with sea salt and black pepper.
- Preheat skillet: Heat a cast-iron skillet or grill pan over high heat until smoking hot.
- Sear the tuna: Place the tuna steaks in the pan and cook for 90 seconds on one side.
- Flip & cook: Turn the steaks over and cook for another 60 seconds until seared but still rare in the center.
- Rest & slice: Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing against the grain.
- Serve & enjoy! Pair with your favorite sauce, fresh greens, or roasted vegetables.

- For perfect grill marks, rotate the tuna steak 45Β° halfway through searing.
