Shrimp and Steak Tacos: Bold & Crispy Flavor


Description

Shrimp and Steak Tacos combine juicy grilled steak, plump shrimp, melty cheese, and creamy avocado salsa in crispy tortillas for a bold, crave-worthy meal.


Ingredients

  • 1–2 whole skirt steak
  • 2.5 tbsp chipotle garlic rub
  • Canola oil, as needed
  • 1 lb whole shrimp, peeled and de-tailed
  • 2 tbsp jalapeno lime pilsner rub
  • Corn or flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded jack cheese
  • 2 tbsp chopped red onion
  • 2 tbsp chopped cilantro
  • 1 whole avocado
  • 1 whole serrano pepper
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp white vinegar
  • 2 tbsp chopped cilantro (for salsa)
  • 2 tbsp white onion

Instructions

  1. Coat steak with oil and season generously with chipotle garlic rub.
  2. Toss shrimp in a bowl with oil and jalapeno lime pilsner rub. Refrigerate both until ready.
  3. Preheat grill to 400Β°F. Grill steak for about 4 minutes per side until medium rare (120Β°F internal). Let rest before slicing.
  4. Heat a skillet and cook shrimp for 2–3 minutes until curled into a β€œC” shape. Remove and set aside.
  5. Slice steak against the grain, then cube.
  6. Warm tortillas in the microwave for 10–15 seconds.
  7. Layer tortillas with shredded cheese, shrimp, and steak. Fold them over.
  8. Sear tacos in a skillet at 400Β°F for 1.5–2 minutes per side until crispy and cheese melts.
  9. Blend avocado salsa ingredients until smooth.
  10. Serve tacos topped with salsa, extra cilantro, and red onion.

Notes

  • Let the steak rest to retain juiciness.
  • Don’t overcook shrimp they should be plump, not rubbery.
  • Always warm tortillas to prevent breaking when folding.
  • Use freshly shredded cheese for best melt and flavor.
  • Double sear the tacos for extra crispiness.
