- 1/2 cup (43g) old-fashioned whole rolled oats
- 1/3 cup (70g) packed light or dark brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup (31g) all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup (4 Tbsp; 56g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300°F (149°C). Line an 8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper.
- For the crust, combine melted butter, sugar, vanilla, and salt. Add flour and mix well. Press into prepared pan and bake for 15 minutes.
- For the filling, mix apples with flour, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
- For the streusel, combine oats, brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour. Cut in cold butter till crumbly.
- Increase oven temperature to 350°F (177°C).
- Layer apple filling over baked crust. Top with streusel.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden brown. Cool for 20 minutes, then refrigerate for 2 hours.
- Lift out, slice, and drizzle with salted caramel sauce before serving.
