Description
Potato Cheese Sticks are crispy, golden snacks made from mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese, and cornstarch perfectly fried until crunchy on the outside and fluffy inside.

- 2 medium yellow potatoes (500g)
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (100g)
- β cup cornstarch (100g)
- Salt, for boiling water
- 1 liter vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Peel and chop the potatoes into small chunks.
- Boil the potatoes in salted water for 15β20 minutes until tender.
- Mash the hot potatoes through a strainer or with a masher for a smooth texture.
- Mix the mashed potatoes with shredded cheddar cheese and cornstarch until a cohesive, non-sticky dough forms.
- Divide the dough into two portions and place into sandwich bags. Flatten evenly using a rolling pin.
- Freeze the flattened dough in bags for 20 minutes.
- Cut open the bags and slice each dough slab into 12 sticks (24 total).
- Freeze the sliced sticks again for another 20 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil to 350Β°F (180Β°C).
- Deep fry the sticks in small batches for 3β4 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain on a wire rack and serve hot with ketchup or your favorite dip.
Notes
- Ensure the dough isnβt sticky add more cornstarch if needed.
- Donβt skip the second freezing step; it helps maintain shape during frying.
- Fry in batches to avoid overcrowding and oil temperature drops.
- Use sharp cheddar cheese for maximum flavor.
