- 24 slices sourdough bread, crusts removed
- Butter, divided (ΒΌ cup melted, ΒΌ cup for sauce)
- ΒΌ cup all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1Β½ cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
- β lb thinly sliced deli turkey
- 8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 3 Roma tomatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 Tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C). Place the bread on a baking sheet and brush with melted butter. Bake for 10 minutes until crisp.
- Melt ΒΌ cup of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add flour and cook, stirring for 2 minutes. Gradually stir in milk until smooth. Cook until the sauce thickens, then stir in Cheddar cheese until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
- Preheat the broiler. Top each toasted bread piece with turkey, bacon, and tomato slices. Spoon the cheese sauce over the top. Broil for 2β3 minutes until bubbly. Sprinkle with parsley before serving.
Notes
- Use day-old bread for best crispiness. Fresh bread may become soft.
- Donβt skimp on cheese sauce for an indulgent flavor.
- Add a dash of hot sauce for extra kick.
