Description
These crispy fried onion rings are an irresistible treat, perfect for a quick snack or side dish. They are golden, crunchy, and easy to make at home – just like the ones you love from your favorite diner!
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large Onion, sliced into 1/2-inch thick rings
- 1/2 cup Flour
- 2 Large Eggs
- 1/2 cup Milk
- 1 cup Panko Bread Crumbs
- Vegetable Oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Prepare three small bowls. Fill one with flour, another with beaten eggs and milk, and the third with panko breadcrumbs.
- Dip the onion rings into the flour, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat them in the panko breadcrumbs. Place the coated rings aside on a separate plate.
- In a small saucepan, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 375°F (190°C).
- Carefully place the onion rings into the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove the fried onion rings and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt to taste. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
Notes
- If you prefer sweeter onion rings, soak the onion slices in ice water before coating them.
- For variations, add seasonings such as Italian seasoning, garlic salt, garlic powder, or Cajun seasoning to the egg mixture.
- Vegetable or canola oil is best for frying due to their high smoke points.
- To reheat onion rings, place them on a parchment-lined baking tray and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes until crispy.
