Description

Embrace the cozy essence of fall with this easy apple cider recipe. Learn How To Make Apple Cider using Fall Apples in your Stock Pot for a delightful, non-alcoholic drink that warms every moment.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 medium apples, quartered
  • ยฝ cup (100 g) packed light brown sugar
  • 4 cinnamon sticks (or 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon)
  • 1 tablespoon ground allspice
  • Water to cover apples by 2 inches when pressed down

Instructions

  1. Place quartered apples in a large stockpot and add enough water to cover them by about 2 inches when pressed down as they will float.
  2. Stir in the brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, and ground allspice.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil and let it boil uncovered for 1 hour.
  4. Once boiling is complete, cover the pot, reduce the heat, and let it simmer for 2 more hours to fully infuse the flavors.
  5. Let the cider cool slightly before proceeding.
  6. Strain the mixture into a bowl through cheesecloth, pressing gently on the solids to extract all the liquid flavor.
  7. Discard the solids and strain the liquid again through cheesecloth or a fine-mesh sieve for a smooth texture.
  8. Serve the homemade apple cider hot or chilled.

Notes

  • Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for the best flavor.
  • For a stronger spice flavor, add a couple of cloves to the mixture.
  • Customize by adding orange peels or cranberries during the simmering process.
