Description
Delight in the sweet scent of raspberry filling in heart shaped rolls that bring joy and warmth, especially with simple ingredients like fresh dough and sugared berries.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup lukewarm whole milk
- 1/3 cup lukewarm water
- 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
- 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 3 1/2 cups (15.75 ounces) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1 (10-ounce) package frozen raspberries
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon fresh orange zest
- 1/3 cup chocolate hazelnut spread (like Nutella)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook, combine the dough ingredients and mix until everything is well incorporated. Increase the mixer speed to medium and knead for 5 minutes until the dough becomes smooth. Transfer the dough to a floured surface, cover with a cloth or bowl, and let it rest for 10 minutes.
- In a medium bowl, toss the frozen raspberries with the sugar, cornstarch, and orange zest. Roll out the rested dough on a floured surface into a 9×15-inch rectangle. Evenly spread the raspberry mixture on top.
- Starting from each long side of the dough, roll inward toward the center until the two logs meet in the middle. Gently press them together. Use a very sharp knife to trim the ends, then slice the dough into 10 equal pieces. Pinch the bottom of each piece to form a heart shape.
- Arrange the rolls in a greased pie pan with the pointed ends facing the center, or line them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Bake for about 25 minutes, or until they are lightly golden brown. Let the rolls cool on a wire rack for at least 5 minutes.
- For the final touch, place the chocolate hazelnut spread in a zip-top bag, snip a small hole in the corner, and drizzle over the rolls just before serving for a delicious finish.
Notes
- Use fresh ingredients whenever possible for the best flavor.
- Ensure the dough is smooth and elastic before shaping, which helps in achieving the perfect texture.
- If using frozen raspberries, do not thaw them to prevent excess moisture in the filling.
