Description

Delight in the sweet scent of raspberry filling in heart shaped rolls that bring joy and warmth, especially with simple ingredients like fresh dough and sugared berries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup lukewarm whole milk
  • 1/3 cup lukewarm water
  • 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 3 1/2 cups (15.75 ounces) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 (10-ounce) package frozen raspberries
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon fresh orange zest
  • 1/3 cup chocolate hazelnut spread (like Nutella)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with the dough hook, combine the dough ingredients and mix until everything is well incorporated. Increase the mixer speed to medium and knead for 5 minutes until the dough becomes smooth. Transfer the dough to a floured surface, cover with a cloth or bowl, and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss the frozen raspberries with the sugar, cornstarch, and orange zest. Roll out the rested dough on a floured surface into a 9×15-inch rectangle. Evenly spread the raspberry mixture on top.
  3. Starting from each long side of the dough, roll inward toward the center until the two logs meet in the middle. Gently press them together. Use a very sharp knife to trim the ends, then slice the dough into 10 equal pieces. Pinch the bottom of each piece to form a heart shape.
  4. Arrange the rolls in a greased pie pan with the pointed ends facing the center, or line them in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Bake for about 25 minutes, or until they are lightly golden brown. Let the rolls cool on a wire rack for at least 5 minutes.
  5. For the final touch, place the chocolate hazelnut spread in a zip-top bag, snip a small hole in the corner, and drizzle over the rolls just before serving for a delicious finish.

Notes

  • Use fresh ingredients whenever possible for the best flavor.
  • Ensure the dough is smooth and elastic before shaping, which helps in achieving the perfect texture.
  • If using frozen raspberries, do not thaw them to prevent excess moisture in the filling.
