Instructions
- Heat 2 inches of canola oil in a heavy-bottom pot over medium heat.
- In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add warm milk and melted butter; mix until a shaggy dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth.
- Divide into 8 equal pieces and roll into balls.
- Flatten each ball into a 6-inch round about 1/8 inch thick.
- Shake off excess flour and fry one shell at a time.
- Cook 5 seconds per side, then fold and fry each side for 1β2 minutes until golden brown.
- Drain and shape over a wooden spoon placed across a bowl.
- Cook taco meat in a skillet with seasoning and tomato paste until browned.
- Fill each fried shell with cooked beef, shredded cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream.
