The Glaze:

- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3β6 tablespoons milk (as needed)
Instructions
- Proof the Yeast: In a small bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and 1/2 teaspoon sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Mix the Dough: In a large bowl, combine yeast mixture, warm milk, sugar, melted butter, salt, and egg. Add 2 cups of flour and mix until smooth.
- Knead the Dough: Gradually add more flour until the dough starts to pull away from the sides. Knead for about 5 minutes until soft but not sticky.
- First Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise for 1 1/2 hours until doubled in size.
- Roll Out the Dough: Lightly flour a surface and roll dough into a 20Γ18-inch rectangle.
- Spread Butter & Add Filling: Coat dough with softened butter. Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly, leaving a 1/2-inch border.
- Roll the Dough & Slice: Roll the dough tightly into a log. Use a sharp knife or dental floss to cut into 12 even rolls.
- Second Rise: Arrange rolls in a buttered baking sheet, cover, and let them rise for another hour until doubled in size.
- Bake: Preheat the oven to 375Β°F and bake for 18-22 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare the Glaze: Mix butter and powdered sugar until smooth. Stir in vanilla and milk to reach a spreadable consistency.
- Glaze the Rolls: Spread the glaze over warm cinnamon rolls before serving.
Notes
- For extra soft rolls, pour heavy cream over them before baking.
- You can prepare the dough the night before and let it rise in the refrigerator overnight.
